Michele “Molletta” Pensato, an Italian knife designer with a passion for archaeology, has turned his love of adventure into the high-end craft of knife design. His career began with an archaeological dig, where he realized the need for a durable knife. Known for his innovative approach to materials and experiments with heat treatment, Pensato has won numerous awards. His designs for lionSTEEL, such as the popular T5 and the award-winning SR11, are distinguished by their practicality and typically Italian rounded shapes. Knife design, although just a hobby for him, has resulted in significant contributions to the lionSTEEL collection.

CPM MagnaCut - Powdered stainless steel produced using the Crucible® Particle Metallurgy (CPM) process hardened between 60.5-62.5 HRC. The high content of vanadium 4.0% (V), molybdenum 2.0% (Mo) and niobium 2.0% (Nb) guarantees accuracy and purity unmatched by more “conventional” steels. Designed and developed specifically for blade production by Larrin Thomas, it meets all the requirements of knife enthusiasts. With CPM MagnaCut succeeded in creating a steel that combines the unique properties of knife steels like no other. The result is a blade material that offers a remarkable balance of wear resistance, strength and corrosion resistance. There is no other steel on the world market today that offers a comparable combination of superior properties. This exceptional steel is manufactured at Crucible® Industries' American steel mills.

Blade - Drop Point type finished with a scratch-masking bath of fine Stonewashed pebbles and then coated with a black coating, an effect LionSteel called Old Black. The Plain blade was derived with a Flat Grind which gives excellent cutting edge geometry and extreme cutting performance. Located on the underside of the Blade, the protrusion / flipper, supported by the Double Crown ball bearing system, facilitates the opening of the blade. In the open position it serves as a lower guard / hilt protecting the hand from slipping off the handle. The whole is locked with a proven frame lock with a steel inlay to prevent wiping of the lock face.

ReF - (Removable Flipper System) located on the underside of the blade protrusion / flipper flipper flipper assisted by Double Crown makes it easier to open the blade with one hand. It consists of a small lever (protrusion) that extends beyond the back of the Handle when the Blade is closed. In the open position, the protrusion acts as a stinger, protecting the hand from slipping on the blade. In the folder, it is possible to unscrew the Removable Flipper System lever (unscrew the flipper fin, then insert the second screw included in the box) and open the blade with both hands. This is important in countries where there is a ban on one-handed opening blade knives in public places.

Double Crown - the Double Crown ball bearing system is an evolution of the standard mechanism. It improves blade rotation, allows faster, even smoother opening of the blade, and keeps the blade stable in a straight line.

Handle - the presentation side is made of Toxic Storm Fat Carbon, the locking side is made of solid titanium 6AI4V. The sheaths are attached to a CNC-milled titanium backspacer, which provides the desired rigidity and strength to the overall design. The titanium Solid® clip allows the knife to be carried in tip-up (tip up) position. The clip is bolted to the titanium frame with a tungsten carbide screw/glass striker. In the back of the grips a lanyard hole, a hole for a line.
