Sleipner - a universal high-alloy chromium-molybdenum-vanadium tool steel with high wear and chipping resistance and a balanced alloy composition: chromium content 7.8% (Cr), 0.9% carbon (C), molybdenum 2.5% (Mo) and vanadium 0.5% (V). Achieves a high hardness of 60-62 HRC. Manufactured at the Uddeholm steelworks.
DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) - the durability of the blade surface is increased by a black, matt nanocomposite coating, which has unique properties such as exceptional hardness and low friction, as well as excellent corrosion protection. It is one of the most scratch and wear resistant coatings used in industry, including the knife industry.
A-Lock (Crossbar Lock) - A horizontally moving crossbar in longitudinal notches in the steel side plates of the handle frame. When the knife is opened, the locking bar overlaps the back of the blade from above, preventing it from springing back. The bar is held down by two springs. To unlock, pull back the locking bar, the ends of which are accessible through the notches in the handle grips. In the closed position, the bar presses against the cam surface at the back of the blade, preventing it from opening by itself. Advantages of the Crossbar Lock are resistance to dirt, practical insensitivity to dynamic loads, ease of use with either hand and lightness of action.
Blade - Drop Point type, black DLC coated. The thin blade in combination with the high, flat grind results in an excellent cutting edge geometry and extreme cutting performance. The wide notch at the beginning of the cutting edge facilitates sharpening and can also be used to start a fire. Ball bearings support the smooth operation of the blade opening mechanism, which can be opened with a flipper, with a fluorescent dot made of Swiss Superluminova to make it easier to find the knife in the dark. Part of the back of the blade is covered with upper jimping, a notched thumb rest for easier control of the knife. The whole is secured with an intuitive A-Lock.
Handle - G10 composite grips, a mechanically extremely durable material that is practically completely resistant to weather conditions and chemicals, textured to improve grip. The open open-backed design, which is attached with steel spacers, reduces weight and makes cleaning easier. The simple, reliable design ensures many years of use. The two-position left/right-handed wire clip deep carry allows the knife to be carried in a tip-up position.
