Carpenter® Technology' sMicro-Melt PD#1 is a weather-resistant cold-formed die steel specifically formulated to provide both superior wear resistance and strength. The advanced alloy composition is further enhanced by the CarTech® Micro-Melt process, which provides a very fine, extremely uniform grain structure. Functionally equivalent to CPM® CRU-WEAR®.
Blade - Clip Point provides excellent low-friction cutting edge geometry, coated with a black non-reflective titanium carbide (TiCN) coating. The Spyder blade is derived with a Full Flat Grind to reduce weight and improve cutting properties. The enlarged 14mm round SpyderHole cutout (Spyderco patent) allows the knife to be opened even with a glove. Notched section of the Blade's back, ramp (jimping / crosshatching) positions the thumb and gives solid support. An arched undercut for the index finger between the Handle and the cutting edge of the finger choil jimping facilitates efficient operation of the folder. Handle -bi-directional textured non-slip grips (Bi-Directional Texturing) and notched notches on the backs of the handle (Spine Jimping) strengthen the grip. Made of FRN (Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon), afiberglass-reinforced nylonplastic. Skeletonized solid stainless steel inlays and a solid steel spacer along with the sheaths provide great strength with the knife's light weight. Sturdy metal screw-on hourglass clip with 4-way (up/down, right/left) 4-way clip positions. Lanyard hole for pulling a safety cord.
