The G10 composite handle is made in the elite Cobalt Blue color, reserved for Spyderco knives with CPM SPY27 steel Blade . Manufactured at the Spyderco factory in the USA (Golden, Colorado).
CPM SPY27 - a proprietary blend of alloys including vanadium, molybdenum, niobium, nitrogen and cobalt. The high-alloy stainless steel contains 1.4% carbon and a 1% admixture of niobium (Nb), one of the best carbides, which contributes to the steel's wear resistance. Thanks to its properties, the steel holds sharpness for a very long time and guarantees aggressive cuts for a long time. It is easy to sharpen, corrosion resistant and contains a high admixture of 14% chromium. It provides good strength and cutting edge retention, as well as a fine-grained structure. Manufactured by US Crucible Industries using the particle metallurgy/ Crucible® Particle Metallurgy(CPM) method. The CPM process produces a very homogeneous, high-quality steel with excellent dimensional stability, grindability and ductility compared to steels produced by conventional methods.
Compression-Lock - (similar to Liner-Lock) Spyderco' s (made in USA) patented blade locking mechanism. Extremely durable, it provides extreme strength and ease of use. Located on the back of the Handle, it protects the knife from inadvertent locking. When releasing the lock, the fingers are not in the path of the folding Blade.
Blade - with Leaf-Shaped profile (leaf shape) provides a long, gently curved cutting edge. The Plain blade is derived with a weight-reducing Full Flat Grind (Full Flat Grind). Enlarged 14mm round SpyderHole cutout (Spyderco patent) to open the knife. High-quality (made in USA) Compression-Lock protects the blade from accidental opening or closing. Upper Jimping, (a notched thumb rest on the back of the blade, and Index Finger Choil (a notched profiled undercut for the index finger between the Handle and the cutting edge), make the knife easier to operate.
Handle - profiled, covered with non-slip textured grips made of durable, heat- and cold-resistant, chemical-resistant G-10 plastic in Cobalt Blue. Handle, despite its compact size, provides full grip and excellent control, with four fingers as in full-size folders. Metal clip with 2-way (top, right/left) 2-way clip positions.
