Manticore-X D/E Black Aluminium / Ultem, Black DLC is the largest OTF (Out The Front) automatic knife in the Manticore range. Featuring a hell of a fast extension mechanism for a razor sharp double sided blade. 100% made and assembled in the USA. Designed by Anthony Marfione Jr. knifemaker and owner of Heretic Knives.

Operating in D/A (Double Action) mode, it features an innovative locking mechanism for unparalleled performance and reliability. Designed with precision engineering and built from the highest quality materials. Key features of the largest Manticore X include the silky-smooth operation of the powerful mechanism when unfolding and folding with one hand, which begins with a gradual thumb-slide of the stepped slide, allowing the powerful blade to be fired with confidence.

CPM MagnaCut - Powdered stainless steel manufactured using the Crucible® Particle Metallurgy (CPM) process hardened between 60.5-62.5 HRC. The high content of vanadium 4.0% (V), molybdenum 2.0% (Mo) and niobium 2.0% (Nb) guarantees accuracy and purity unmatched by more 'conventional' steels. Designed and developed specifically for blade production by Larrin Thomas, it meets all the requirements of knife enthusiasts. With CPM MagnaCut has succeeded in creating a steel that combines the unique properties of knife steels like no other. The result is a blade material that offers an extraordinary balance of wear resistance, strength and corrosion resistance. There is currently no other steel on the world market that offers a comparable combination of excellent properties. This unique steel is produced at Crucible® Industries' US steel mills.

DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) durability of the blade surface is enhanced with a matte black nanocomposite coating, which exhibits the unique properties of natural diamonds, such as exceptional hardness and low friction, also corrosion resistance. It is one of the most resistant coatings to scratches and abrasion that are used in industry, including the knife industry.

Blade - type DE (Double Edge Dagger) sharpened on both sides with Plain edge. Covered with black DLC coating. The blade is brought out with a high Flat Grind for excellent cutting properties. This gives the knife excellent piercing qualities whilst retaining its strength. The sturdy blade extension/retraction mechanism with a mottled Thumb Slide, a stepped slide under the thumb requires for safety the application of a specific force to overcome the resistance of the spring. The opening method ensures trouble-free opening for both right- and left-handed people.

ULTEM™ - a material belonging to the Polyethermoids family or simply PEI. This material is primarily characterised by its high mechanical and impact strength with a very high strength-to-weight ratio. It is also characterised by a high thermal resistance (180⁰C) and a high chemical resistance to all types of solvents (synthetic and natural), lubricants and other chemicals. Add to this the total insensitivity to atmospheric conditions, and you get an ideal material for knife handles.

Handle - manufactured with perfect precision in 3D on CNC milling machines from black DLC-coated 6061-T6 aluminium. Perfectly fitting liners made of innovative Ultem™ plastic. The same material is used for the opening and closing slide of the knife. Handle surface texture makes the knife non-slip in the hand during use. There are notches (jimping) on the back and bottom of the Handle for a more secure grip. The slim profile and the milled two-position (right/left) solid deep-carry clip allow the knife to be carried discreetly in the pocket, in tip-down position. The Handle is finished with a lanyard hole, a rope hole and a shaft striker.
