Kubotan - a type of self-defense weapon originating from modern Japan. It is a reduced version of the yawara, introduced to the market by Sōke Takayuki Kubota, who is also the author of the kubotan system of fighting techniques, which is part of the Gōsoku-ryū school of karate. The name of the instrument comes from the name of the creator. Usually in the form of a cylinder made of hard material, usually worn as a keychain. Kubotan is used both to deal blows, as well as to press certain points or spheres on the opponent's body. Techniques include blows or pressure on sensitive points of the body, such as the face, neck, larynx, joint joints, bones, nerve plexuses. Kubotan blows cause extremely sharp pain. Hitting with a hard object with a small point of contact is incomparably more destructive than with a bare fist.
