N690 - corrosion-resistant, high-carbon 1.07% (C), martensitic chromium steel 17.30% (Cr) with the addition of molybdenum 1.10% (Mo), vanadium 0.10% (V) and cobalt 1.50% (Co) for structural uniformity. Features exceptionally high corrosion resistance and long edge retention. One of the best tool steels in the world today. It achieves a hardness of 57-60 HRC. Manufactured by Böhler Edelstahl in Kapfenberg, Austria.
Blade - geometric dagger, with a strong tip for piercing through hard materials. Full flat grind is an excellent cut of the lower cutting edge. A serrated blade has been added at the top for cutting ropes or wood. Behind the main blade we have a recess where two smaller interchangeable blades can be mounted. We then get an additional tool for cutting belts or halyards. The steel for additional protection against corrosion has been coated with black MIL-C-13924 Teflon-based coating.
Handle - non-slip, anatomically shaped facings with rubber-like properties, made of Forprene thermoplastic elastomer (flexible return, softness, chemical resistance), guarantee a secure grip even with wet hands. If the situation requires it, the facings can be removed and the knife can be used without them. And here is another attention to detail in the design, screws for a flathead screwdriver tip were used, which will make it superbly easy to unscrew the knife in the field. In the lower part you will find a massive glass nailer.
Sheath - made of kydex. If we need quick access to the knife, we can remove the lock against falling out. Reaching the knife then takes seconds. On the other hand, when carrying for a long time, the installed lock prevents the knife from falling out while walking.
