This product is intended for use only by adults with knowledge and experience in handling sharp cutting tools. Improper use of the knife can result in serious injuries. The blade is extremely sharp and can easily cut through skin and tissue; therefore, extra caution should always be exercised while cutting, and hands should be kept away from the cutting edge. To prevent the knife from slipping, it is recommended to cut on a stable, non-slip surface and avoid excessive force, which may cause uncontrolled blade movement.
Leaving the knife on the edge of a table, countertop, or in easily accessible places—especially where children are present—poses a significant safety risk. The knife should always be properly secured after use, ideally by placing it on a stable surface or storing it in designated knife blocks, protective sheaths, or magnetic strips. The knife should never be used for tasks it is not designed for, such as opening cans or prying objects, as this can damage the tool and lead to dangerous accidents.
A dull blade increases the risk of injury, as it requires more force and is more likely to slip from the material being cut. Therefore, it is essential to sharpen the knife regularly to maintain optimal sharpness. Additionally, proper cleaning and drying of the knife are necessary to prevent corrosion and bacterial growth. Periodic inspection of the handle and blade is recommended to check for cracks, chips, or looseness. If any damage is detected, the knife should be repaired or replaced immediately.
When using the knife, focus solely on the task at hand—avoid talking on the phone, watching television, or other distractions while cutting. Ensure proper lighting in the workspace for better visibility and control. Please note that some countries or regions have laws restricting the ownership and carrying of knives. Before purchasing or using this knife, verify that its use is legal in your location according to applicable regulations.
Following these safety guidelines will help ensure safe and effective knife use, minimizing the risk of accidents and extending the lifespan of the tool.
Manix 2 XL Brown Canvas Micarta, Satin is a full-size version of the iconic Manix 2 knife, designed for users who value superior quality and reliability. It is distinguished by elegant covers in a unique Brown color, which emphasizes the exclusive character of CPM Cru-Wear steel - a material created especially for Spyderco for maximum performance and durability. The Micarta composite used in the Handle's construction provides exceptional durability, damage resistance and a secure grip, even in harsh conditions. The Ball Bearing-Lock guarantees safe use, while offering smooth operation and ease of use. This knife, designed by Eric Glesser, harmoniously combines innovative technology with classic design. The Manix 2 XL is a product that will satisfy both collectors and practitioners looking for a reliable EDC tool.
CPM Cru-Wear - premium high-carbon air-hardening tool steel with a hardness of 60-65 HRC. Produced by US Crucible Industries according to the CPM (Crucible Particle Metallurgy) process as an improvement on the manufacturer's conventional Cru-Wear and D2 steels. Produced according to the CPM process, it is more resistant to chipping and cracking than most conventionally manufactured tool steels. It is not a stainless steel; to qualify as a stainless steel, it must contain at least 12% chromium. CruWear contains 7.5% chromium, but still offers a fair level of corrosion resistance. It contains a high content of 1.1% carbon, 7.5% chromium, 1.6% molybdenum, 2.48% vanadium and 1.15% tungsten, providing a balance for key properties: hardness, impact strength, edge retention, machinability, wear resistance and easy sharpening. It's not easy to find a steel that performs so well in so many categories.
Ball Bearing-Lock - one of the strongest blade locking mechanisms. Hardened ball bearing housed in a black polymer basket in the open position pressed against the blade by a spring. Made in USA.
Blade - Plain smooth blade brought out with Full Flat Grind. SpyderHole round cutout (Spyderco patent) for ambidextrous thumb opening. The fine-tuned, precision-machined Ball Bearing-Lock blade locking mechanism guarantees extremely smooth operation. The notched thumb rest (upper jimping) on the back of the blade and the Finger Choil (an undercut for the index finger between the Handle and the cutting edge) make it easier to control the knife.
Handle - profiled, covered with non-slip textured grips in Brown, attributed to the Blade with CPM Cru-Wear, provides a comfortable and secure grip. Made of durable, heat- and cold-resistant, chemical-resistant Micarta composite. The grips are attached to a sturdy spacer (so-called backspacer / handle grips connector), which ensures the strength of the construction. The whole thing was fixed with torx screws for easy twisting and unfolding of the folder. A two-position (right/left) polished steel metal clip allows the knife to be carried in tip-up position , with the tip of the blade upward. Enlarged cord hole in the back.
