- Metropolitan Lightweight Black FRN, Satin - a folding knife in the SLIPIT series, designed by Sal Glesser. Blade made of advanced M398 steel, ergonomic FRN Handle and Round Hole guarantee reliability, precision and intuitive use.

This product is intended for use only by adults with knowledge and experience in handling sharp cutting tools. Improper use of the knife can result in serious injuries. The blade is extremely sharp and can easily cut through skin and tissue; therefore, extra caution should always be exercised while cutting, and hands should be kept away from the cutting edge. To prevent the knife from slipping, it is recommended to cut on a stable, non-slip surface and avoid excessive force, which may cause uncontrolled blade movement.
Leaving the knife on the edge of a table, countertop, or in easily accessible places—especially where children are present—poses a significant safety risk. The knife should always be properly secured after use, ideally by placing it on a stable surface or storing it in designated knife blocks, protective sheaths, or magnetic strips. The knife should never be used for tasks it is not designed for, such as opening cans or prying objects, as this can damage the tool and lead to dangerous accidents.
A dull blade increases the risk of injury, as it requires more force and is more likely to slip from the material being cut. Therefore, it is essential to sharpen the knife regularly to maintain optimal sharpness. Additionally, proper cleaning and drying of the knife are necessary to prevent corrosion and bacterial growth. Periodic inspection of the handle and blade is recommended to check for cracks, chips, or looseness. If any damage is detected, the knife should be repaired or replaced immediately.
When using the knife, focus solely on the task at hand—avoid talking on the phone, watching television, or other distractions while cutting. Ensure proper lighting in the workspace for better visibility and control. Please note that some countries or regions have laws restricting the ownership and carrying of knives. Before purchasing or using this knife, verify that its use is legal in your location according to applicable regulations.
Following these safety guidelines will help ensure safe and effective knife use, minimizing the risk of accidents and extending the lifespan of the tool.
The Metropolitan Lightweight Black FRN, Satin is a technically advanced folder designed by Sal Glesser, founder of the Spyderco brand , who for decades has set the standard for ergonomics and utility in everyday knives. The design was created as a response to the needs of users who expect maximum functionality with minimal size and weight - it will perform well in urban conditions and light outdoor activities. Blade made of Böhler M398 steel, one of the most advanced powder steels available on the market, provides exceptional abrasion resistance and very long retention of sharpness, even under intensive, repetitive use. The satin finish reduces reflections and facilitates maintenance. The brand's classic Round Hole opening allows for smooth and intuitive one-handed opening - regardless of the user's preference. Handle made of FRN (Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon) is not only lightweight, but also resistant to impact, changing weather conditions and wear. The aggressive texture improves hand grip even in wet or dirty environments. The deep-carry clip allows discreet carrying in a pocket or next to your gear.
M398 Microclean® - a martensitic high-performance chrome steel produced by powder metallurgy. Due to the alloy concept, it has extremely high wear resistance and high corrosion resistance. Due to its high wear resistance, it adequately retains the shape of the edge, so that the blade remains sharp for a very long time (requiring minimal maintenance). Another of the advantages is resistance to the formation of “wire” during sharpening. The steel has a high chromium content of 20.0% (Cr) and carbon content of 2.7% (C) and vanadium 7.2% (V) with molybdenum 1.0% (Mo), tungsten 0.7% (W). Designed to provide better strength compared to M390, launched in 2019. M398 contains more carbon and vanadium, making it a very hard steel 60-62 HRC. Manufactured by Böhler Edelstahl in Kapfenberg, Austria.
Slipit - a “no lock” non-locking mechanism used in folders in which the wedge is held open by spring pressure on a flat section at the back of the blade shank during use. The Slipit holds the blade in both the folded and unfolded positions. When folded, it generates a smooth resistance as in a knife equipped with a traditional locking mechanism.
Blade - with a modified clip point profile is made of Böhler M398 powder steel, known for its exceptional wear resistance and long retention of sharpness. The full flat grind (full flat grind) guarantees even cutting properties along the entire length of the blade. The satin finish reduces glare and makes it easy to clean. The distinctive Round Hole opening allows quick one-handed opening, and the milling on the back (jimping) provides additional support for the thumb during precision cuts.
Handle - Designed for maximum lightness and durability, the FRN handle features an aggressive texture that enhances tool control in all conditions. The slim shape and precise profiling improve ergonomics without adding bulk to the knife. The deep carry clip allows for low-profile carry. In the back there is a cord hole, which allows for additional security or personalization of the knife.
