Warning and Safety Information for the KnifeMore

This product is intended for use only by adults with knowledge and experience in handling sharp cutting tools. Improper use of the knife can result in serious injuries. The blade is extremely sharp and can easily cut through skin and tissue; therefore, extra caution should always be exercised while cutting, and hands should be kept away from the cutting edge. To prevent the knife from slipping, it is recommended to cut on a stable, non-slip surface and avoid excessive force, which may cause uncontrolled blade movement.

Leaving the knife on the edge of a table, countertop, or in easily accessible places—especially where children are present—poses a significant safety risk. The knife should always be properly secured after use, ideally by placing it on a stable surface or storing it in designated knife blocks, protective sheaths, or magnetic strips. The knife should never be used for tasks it is not designed for, such as opening cans or prying objects, as this can damage the tool and lead to dangerous accidents.

A dull blade increases the risk of injury, as it requires more force and is more likely to slip from the material being cut. Therefore, it is essential to sharpen the knife regularly to maintain optimal sharpness. Additionally, proper cleaning and drying of the knife are necessary to prevent corrosion and bacterial growth. Periodic inspection of the handle and blade is recommended to check for cracks, chips, or looseness. If any damage is detected, the knife should be repaired or replaced immediately.

When using the knife, focus solely on the task at hand—avoid talking on the phone, watching television, or other distractions while cutting. Ensure proper lighting in the workspace for better visibility and control. Please note that some countries or regions have laws restricting the ownership and carrying of knives. Before purchasing or using this knife, verify that its use is legal in your location according to applicable regulations.

Following these safety guidelines will help ensure safe and effective knife use, minimizing the risk of accidents and extending the lifespan of the tool.

Vertigo Gray Titanium/Timascus, Stonewashed A unique project folder by American knifemaker Peter Carey that combines outstanding workmanship with everyday functionality. The handle is a unique combination of titanium and a Timascus (titanium damascus) inlay. The blade is made of high-quality CPM S35VN steel with excellent wear resistance, corrosion resistance and long-lasting sharpness. This makes the Vertigo ready for any challenge, whether you use it in the kitchen, while hiking or for everyday tasks. The size is just right for everyday use. It is neither too big nor too small – perfect for slipping into a trouser or jacket pocket. It is not only a tool but also a sophisticated accessory for your collection. Its quality, durability and functionality will make you love it for a long time.

Peter Carey grew up in Southern California, in a small town surrounded by vineyards and citrus groves, where knives were a common tool that everyone used and carried, even children. He made his first knife in 1997, and his first folder in 2000. After years of working as a contract welder in SoCal, he moved to Texas and became a full-time knife maker and designer in 2006. Today, he sells knives to collectors all over the world.

Kubey is one of the largest manufacturers of high-quality knives at a great price! The company's motto is “An Edge Above the Rest”. By using high-speed CNC machine tools, milling machines, laser cutting and custom hand finishing, the brand focuses on quality workmanship and an innovative approach to design.

CPM S35VN – American martensitic high-alloy stainless steel with a hardness of 59-61 HRC, one of the best steels for blade production. Designed to provide better strength compared to CPM S30V, while maintaining the highest level of corrosion resistance. Manufactured by US Crucible Industries using Crucible® Particle Metallurgy (CPM). The CPM process produces a very homogeneous, high-quality steel with excellent dimensional stability, grindability and toughness compared to steels produced by conventional methods. The chemical composition is balanced to consist of 0.5% niobium (Nb) carbides together with 3.0% vanadium (V) and 14.0% chromium (Cr) carbides. Replacing some of the niobium carbides with vanadium carbides makes the steel about 15-20% harder than S30V without compromising wear resistance, and it is also easier to machine and polish. The improved toughness of CPM S35VN also provides better resistance to edge chipping.

Vacuum & Cryogenic - CPM S35VN steel undergoes a specialized heat treatment process involving two key stages. Vacuum Heat Treatment: the steel is hardened in a vacuum environment, which minimizes oxidation and ensures more uniform metal properties. This process increases the strength and structural integrity of the steel. Cryogenic Treatment: After heating, the steel is rapidly cooled to extremely low temperatures, often below -100°C (-148°F). This transformation converts retained austenite into martensite, significantly increasing hardness, wear resistance and overall durability. Thanks to these advanced processes, CPM S35VN steel ensures exceptional performance, offering both razor-sharp edge retention and extraordinary blade durability.

Blade - Wharncliffe type, finished with a stonewashed method to mask minor scratches caused during use. The thickness of the blade ensures high durability, while the high, flat grind gives the cutting edge perfect geometry and extreme cutting performance. Ceramic ball bearings assist in opening the blade with the Dual Thumb Stud on both sides. Upper jimping on the back of the blade, a ridged thumb rest. The whole is locked with the proven and popular frame lock with a steel inlay to protect the lock face from wear.

Handle - made of titanium 6AL4V, with a perfectly fitting inlay made of Timascus (titanium damascus). The beveled edges of the covers eliminate sharp edges. The grips are screwed to the titanium backspacer, ensuring many years of use. The pivot axis is adorned with a stylized brand logo. The single-position (right) titanium deep carry clip allows the knife to be carried discreetly in the pocket in a tip-up position (with the tip of the blade up).
