14C28N - martensitic stainless chromium steel is the latest development in the range of knife steels produced by the Swedish steelworks Sandvik. The optimized chemical composition with a unique combination ensures the highest quality, excellent edge performance, high hardness and corrosion resistance. By reducing the carbon content to 0.62% (C) and increasing the chromium content to 14.0% (Cr), as well as adding nitrogen to 0.11% (N), the corrosion resistance has been significantly increased. Vacuum & Cryogenic - 14C28N steel undergoes a specialized heat treatment process involving two key stages. Vacuum Heat Treatment - the steel is hardened in a vacuum environment, which minimizes oxidation and ensures more uniform metal properties. This process increases the strength and structural integrity of the steel. Cryogenic Treatment After heating, the steel is rapidly cooled to extremely low temperatures, often below -100°C (-148°F). This transformation changes the residual austenite into martensite, significantly increasing the hardness, wear resistance and overall durability. Thanks to these advanced processes, 14C28N steel ensures exceptional performance, offering both razor-sharp edge retention and extraordinary blade durability.
Blade - classic drop point, stonewashed finish to mask minor scratches caused during use. The thickness of the blade in combination with the flat grind gives excellent cutting edge geometry and extreme cutting performance. Ceramic ball bearings ensure a smooth and quiet mechanism and support the opening of the blade with the help of a hole in the handle or flipper, which, when opened, acts as a mini guard to prevent the hand from sliding onto the blade. Handle - profiled grips made of titanium 6AL4V, micro-milled with a fine texture. The whole is screwed to a solid backspacer, also made of titanium. The simple, solid construction ensures many years of use. The pivot axis is adorned with a titanium cap (Pivot Cap) in a contrasting color. Two-position (right/left) titanium deep carry clip allows you to carry the knife discreetly in your pocket in a tip-up position (with the tip of the blade up).
