14C28N - martensitic stainless chromium steel is the latest development in the range of knife steels produced by the Swedish steelworks Sandvik. The optimized chemical composition with a unique combination ensures the highest quality, excellent edge performance, high hardness and corrosion resistance. By reducing the carbon content to 0.62% (C) and increasing the chromium content to 14.0% (Cr), as well as adding nitrogen to 0.11% (N), the corrosion resistance has been significantly increased. Vacuum & Cryogenic - 14C28N steel undergoes a specialized heat treatment process involving two key stages. Vacuum Heat Treatment - the steel is hardened in a vacuum environment, which minimizes oxidation and ensures more uniform metal properties. This process increases the strength and structural integrity of the steel. Cryogenic Treatment After heating, the steel is rapidly cooled to extremely low temperatures, often below -100°C (-148°F). This transformation changes the residual austenite into martensite, significantly increasing the hardness, wear resistance and overall durability. Thanks to these advanced processes, 14C28N steel provides exceptional performance, offering both razor-sharp edge retention and extraordinary blade durability.
Blade - slim, Tanto Point, finished with a scratch-concealing Beadblasted method, which involves abrasive blasting with fine glass or ceramic beads. The thickness of the blade in combination with the high, flat grind results in a perfect cutting edge geometry and extreme cutting performance. Ceramic ball bearings ensure smooth and quiet operation and support the blade opening with a disk on the back of the blade. The locking mechanism is an intuitive and secure button lock.
Handle - grips made of titanium 6AL4V with a flame-coloring in a tiger stripes pattern, a material with high mechanical resistance and almost complete resistance to weather conditions and chemicals. The whole is screwed to a solid backspacer, also made of titanium 6AL4V. The simple, solid design guarantees many years of use. The forefinger groove improves grip and creates a mini guard to prevent the hand from slipping onto the blade. The two-position (right/left) titanium deep carry clip allows the knife to be carried discreetly in the pocket in a tip-up position (with the tip of the blade up).
