Andrew Demko, owner and founder of Demko Knives, first began forging chisels in 1988, when he was in seventh grade. He immediately realized that this was his passion and almost immediately began forging knives. CPM 20CV - one of the best tool steels, American premium martensitic stainless steel. Produced by US Crucible Industries using the Crucible® Particle Metallurgy (CPM) method. The CPM process produces a very homogeneous, high-quality steel with excellent dimensional stability, grindability and toughness compared to steels produced by conventional methods. Designed to provide better wear resistance while maintaining the highest level of corrosion resistance. This super steel is comparable to Böhler's M390 or Carpenter's CTS-204P. According to some knife manufacturers, 20CV is the best of these three steels in terms of edge retention. It consists of 1.9% carbon (C), 20.0% chromium (Cr), 4.0% vanadium (V), 1.0% molybdenum (Mo) and 0.6% tungsten (W). The high percentage of chromium with a little molybdenum makes 20CV one of the best high-grade corrosion-resistant steels.
The Shark-Lock™ mechanism on the back of the knife is operated with a ramp-like “fin”. When the blade is opened, the spring-loaded locking arm moves up and then into the notch in the pin, placing it under the locking pin. What is unique is that the locking mechanism moves back and forth while also moving up and down. This allows for an increase in the size of the surface in contact with the blade, ensuring better mechanical strength in a specific area. And because the drive spring, which moves the locking element up to the locked position, is located in the locking arm itself, it will not be exposed to dirt and debris.
Blade - Shark Foot type, finished with a Stonewashed coating to hide scratches caused by use. The thickness of the blade ensures high durability, while the high, flat grind gives excellent cutting edge geometry and extreme cutting performance. Ball bearings assist the blade opening via the thumb hole. The whole is locked with the Shark-Lock™, considered to be the strongest locking mechanism in the world.
Handle grips made of G10, a virtually indestructible plastic material resistant to weather conditions, chemicals and mechanical damage. The beveled edges of the covers eliminate sharp edges and the characteristic surface texture improves grip. The two-position (right/left) clip allows the knife to be carried in the tip-up position with the tip of the blade facing upwards.
