CPM 3V - wear-resistant tool steel with high hardness. Produced by US Crucible Industries using the particle metallurgy / Crucible® Particle Metallurgy (CPM) method. The CPM process creates a highly homogeneous, high-quality steel with excellent dimensional stability, grindability and ductility compared to steels produced by conventional methods. Designed to provide maximum fracture and chipping resistance in high wear resistance steels. It offers impact resistance greater than A2, D2, Cru-Wear or CPM M4, approaching the levels provided by S7 and other impact-resistant grades. CPM 3V is hardened to 61-63 HRC for applications where chronic cracking and chipping is found in other tool steels, but where the abrasive properties of high-alloy steel are required.
Blade - Clip Point type, finished with a scratch-masking bath of fine Stonewashed pebbles. The expansive belly extends the length of the cutting edge relative to the length of the wide blade converging toward the needle-sharp tip of the knife. The thickness of the blade and flat grind give excellent cutting edge geometry and extreme cutting performance. Notched section of the Blade's back, the spine jimping ramp positions the thumb, giving solid support, making it easier to operate the knife.
Handle - made of G10 composite, practically indestructible plastic insensitive to weather, resistant to chemicals and mechanical damage, screwed directly to the blade, which provides a virtually indestructible construction. The rounded shape of the covers eliminates sharp edges. The unique ergonomics of the Handle allows the knife to be held both ways, especially for users who appreciate an inverted grip. The protruding part of the tang can be used in the field as a hammer, glass breaker, etc. A large hole allows the attachment of a safety line.
