Microtech Glykon S/E Tan Aluminium/Titanium, Stonewashed M390 by Tony and Sean Marfione (184-10TA)
- Glykon Bayonet Tan Aluminum/Titanium, Stonewashed the first OTF automatic with a 3-way push button for ambidextrous operation. Operating in D/A mode equipped with a fast blade ejection mechanism.
Glykon Bayonet Tan Aluminum/Titanium, Stonewashed is a large OTF (Out The Front) automatic knife from the Glykon series. The first OTF automatic with a three-way button for full ambidextrous operation, it features a helluva fast mechanism that extends a razor-sharp blade. 100% made and assembled in the USA. Designed by Anthony and Sean Marfione of Microtech Knives.
Glykon OTF Line - named after a mythical Greek and Roman deity, depicted as a chimera with the body of a snake and the head of a gazelle with human hair. The Glykon is the first OTF automatic with a three-way push button for full ambidextrous operation. The result of many hours of designing, constructing, testing, tweaking and repeating this process, bringing the gold standard in OTF automatic knives. With a modified Bayonet blade, a patent-pending button on three sides of the knife and a reversible pocket clip, the Glykon may just be the most user-friendly knife Microtech has produced to date.
M390 Microclean® - a martensitic high-performance chrome steel produced by powder metallurgy. Due to its alloy concept, it has extremely high wear resistance and high corrosion resistance. Due to its high wear resistance, it adequately maintains the shape of the edge, so the blade stays sharp for a very long time (requiring minimal maintenance). Another of the advantages is resistance to the formation of “wire” during sharpening. The steel has a high chromium content of 20.0% (Cr) doped with 1.9% carbon (C), vanadium 4.0% (V), and is hardened between 59-61 HRC. This super steel is comparable to Carpenter's CPM 20CV or CTS-204P steels. Manufactured by Böhler Edelstahl in Kapfenberg, Austria.
Blade - machine ground D/E (Double Edge Bayonet) type, sharpened on both sides, finished with a scratch-masking bath of fine Stonewashed pebbles. The blade is brought out with a high flat grind (Flat Grind), providing excellent cutting properties. As a result, the knife has excellent piercing properties while maintaining its strength. The long, centrally located grain further strengthens the blade. The powerful mechanism of extending/retracting the blade by means of three moled stepped Thumb Slides located on both sides and on the back of the Handle requires, for safety, the application of a specific force to overcome the resistance of the spring. The method of opening ensures trouble-free opening for both right and left-handed people.
Handle - made with excellent precision in 3D technology on CNC milling machines, the lower part from polished 6061-T6 aluminum, the upper part from titanium. Handle surface texture makes the knife does not slip in the hand during use. There are notches (jimping) on the back and bottom of the handle for a more secure grip. The ergonomic profile and the milled two-position (right/left) solid deep-carry clip allow the knife to be carried discreetly in the pocket, in tip-down (blade tip down) position. The clip bears the Microtech logo, serial number and production date.
