Zome <say zoh-May> is a classic Japanese method of hand-dyeing fabrics, closely related to many aspects of the country's culture and history. Spyderco's Zome family of knives includes unique hand-dyed FRN handles. The facings are first molded in a light base color and then individually hand dyed by experienced Japanese craftsmen. In this painstaking method, the various colors of dye are hand-brushed to create the distinctive, one-of-a-kind pattern of green hues that permeates the FRN material.
Blade - Clip Point profile, 2.5mm thick, made of Japanese VG-10 stainless steel (easy to sharpen, holds sharpness well). Blade hardened in the range of 59-61 HRC. Plain blade is Full Flat Grind for excellent geometry and strength. On the back of the head a notched ramp (jimping / crosshatching) positions the thumb, gives solid support and makes it easier to operate the folder. Round 13 mm SpyderHole notch (Spyderco patent) allows you to open the knife with one hand using your thumb. Back-Lock with additional Boye Detent, which prevents accidental release of the lock when the knife is firmly gripped.
Handle - hand-dyed multi-colored Zome Green facings. Bi-Directional Texturing and Spine Jimping strengthen the grip. The covers are made of FRN (Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon) plastic. Metal hourglass clip with 4-way clip positions (up/down, right/left). Lanyard hole in back of handle for cord.
Skeleton - two steel plates with cut out holes to which facings are attached. This provides high strength and stiffness at low weight of the knife. Reinforced, fully dismantled construction connected by torx screws. Phosphor bronze washers make it easy to open and close the pocket knife.
