1851 Colt Navy Yank Sheriff TS .44, samuel Colt-designed six-shot cap-and-bolt black-powder revolver in the caliber .44. Loaded with steel frame open and engraved concave drum, scene victory of the Second Texas Navy in the naval battle of Campeche in 1843. Version Sheriff with a short barrel, perfect for quick retrieval and rapid shooting during dynamic competitions.
The revolver has a milling on the underside of the grip to accommodate an optional fixed wooden flask # NSS44 (Navy Shoulder Stock). Flask turns revolver into handy rifle.
Designed in 1847, it was introduced into the armament of the army US as a model 1851 Navy. Despite the name Colt Navy was supplied in greater quantities to land forces than to the navy. The reputation of Colt Navy revolvers reached England, where in 1852 Samuel Colt built the only factory outside the United States. Revolvers produced at this factory between 1853 and 1856 were called Navy London.
Construction - fire-hardened: steel frame with open skeleton and a beaters. Oxidized to black engraved 6-chambered drum and octagonal barrel about 4.87" (thread pitch 1-30"). Trigger guard (bail) and grip fittings made of polished brass. Targeting Instruments, fixed bow tie made of brass.
Drum - cannelled to half (1/2 Fluted), lighter than full drum.
Covers - grip made of walnut wood, facilitate a secure grip on the weapon. Oiling enhances the color of the wood, highlights the grain, and preserves the natural appearance. The oil penetrates deep into the wood without clogging the pores, allowing the wood to breathe.
Drain - the mechanism of pulling the trigger tongue allows two positions: half-tight intended for putting caps on the chimneys and tight for firing a shot.
Pobojczyk - lever (stamp), hingedly mounted under the barrel of the revolver. Designed for pressing lead balls in drum chambers.
